Feb 2020 – Awarded a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the oldest and largest dental implant organization in the world. 2020 – Dr. Burneson also recently completed the Misch Implant Institute’s Surgical program. Dr. Carl Misch and Dr. Randolph Resnik were the founders of the institute and the pioneers in dental implants.They literally wrote the books that became the foundation for dental implant education. 2017 – Completion of Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) and Orofacial Pain mini-residency at the UCLA School of Dentistry in Los Angeles.

Dr. James Burneson, DDS
Dr. Burneson grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, the gateway to the west. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Missouri – Kansas City with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry.
After graduation, he attended the UMKC School of Dentistry where he focused on cosmetic and general dentistry and was one of the first students to plan and restore dental implants. Upon graduation from dental school, he worked as a successful associate dentist gaining experience in many aspects of general dentistry.
Higher Education & Experience
He has been an Invisalign clear aligner provider for several years and has earned distinction becoming a Silver Advantage level provider. Dr. Burneson has taken hundreds of hours of continuing dental education including placing and restoring implants, esthetic dentistry, root canal therapies, orthodontics, and many others.
In 2017, Dr. Burneson completed a Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) and Orofacial Pain mini-residency at the UCLA School of Dentistry in Los Angeles. He worked in pediatric offices for three years learning best practices of working with pediatric patients. He has a warm, welcoming, and gentle demeanor and looks forward to being your entire family’s dentist.
Dr. Burneson’s Backbone – His Family
Dr. Burneson loves to have fun and can often be found telling jokes, or making someone smile. He and his wife Emily were married in 2000 so they never have to guess how many years they’ve been married. He proposed to his wife after only 6 days! It’s a story he loves to share.
They have three boys, Daniel, Dallin, and Darren who all enjoy spending time together. Daniel the oldest recently completed a bicycle ride across Iowa and loves the world of theater. Dallin likes golfing and tennis, while Darren is full of energy and loves to play basketball, soccer, and other team sports.
When he’s not at the office he loves enjoying the outdoors and spending time with his family. He and his family have recently relocated from Santa Fe, New Mexico to the Rogue Valley. They are all excited to take advantage of the unsurpassed beauty Southern Oregon affords.
During the winter months, the boys enjoy snowboarding while he sticks to skiing and Emily is in charge of hot chocolate back at the lodge. Summer provides opportunities to find places to swim, ride bicycles, camp, visit the ocean, and take trips as a family. Most of all, he and Emily enjoy spending time together on their weekly date night.
